ARTIFACT: Named, early 20th century, 14K gold United States Daughters of 1812 Membership Badge from Texas. The badge features a gilt brass pin bar that reads: "TEXAS" in embossed lettering. A blue and gray ribbon suspended below features an enameled star and anchor planchet that reads: "U. S. D. 1812" in the center of the star. The reverse is named to Texas member Laura Wilbarger Gilbert and is numbered 1935. The society was begun in 1892 as a sorority for women with ancestors who served in either the military or civil service or materially aided the United States military from 1784-1815. This badge came to us along with a Daughters of the Republic of Texas member badge (see links below).

VINTAGE: Circa early 20th C.

SIZE: Approximately 2-7/8" x 1-1/4"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Enameled, gilt brass, engraved, ribbon, two-piece riveted construction

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with 'C' type catch and stabilizer pin

MARKINGS: "CALDWELL & CO. PAT 8 11 96".

ITEM NOTES: This is from a Societies and Organizations collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VFJX15 LEGEX10/15

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The badge shows minor to moderate wear mostly to ribbon, nearly all the enamel and gilt details remain intact.
