ARTIFACT: This is a beautiful circa early World War I French "Fix" unofficial pilot badge. The badge was worn by pilots before the official 1916 badge was introduced: prior to that, pilots wore an emblem on their sleeve, and this eagle on their breast. The eagle has a lovely lustre and is quite three-dimensional.

VINTAGE: Circa early World War I.

SIZE: Approximately 5/8" in height and 2-11/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gilt brass.

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal pin with scrolled C catch.

MARKINGS: FIX within an oval.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a French militaria collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VEJX12 LEGEX10/12 SLX8/16

CONDITION: 8 (Excellent-): The badge has some small spots of very light wear only.
