SUBJECT:
This is a circa 1910s-1920s alligator-shaped nutcracker from the 1910s-1920s. This nutcracker’s oft-repeated design was originally patented by the British company, Nestor. The details on the alligator are fine, from his scaly segments to his well-formed teeth to his scallop-shaped “claw” feet. This dashing reptile is equally content at rest or cracking a nut between his jaws.
