ARTIFACT:
This is a very rare World War II American Red Cross (ARC) "Clubmobile" uniform originally belonging to (Jane) Anne McKee Jack. Jack, a New York native, was a prominent ARC member overseas from 1942 through 1945. Her husband George was in the Royal Armoured Corps in Belgium. The Clubmobile was a special refreshment station that would travel to several Army bases each day to visit the soldiers. The Clubmobile carried a kitchenette, a phonograph and books, incidentals such as candy and cigarettes, and had tables that converted into beds. Jack's uniform includes: a jacket with ARC collar insignia, an ARC patch, and other insignia; a skirt; a cap with a nice enameled cross insignia.
VINTAGE:
Circa World War II.
SIZE:
Jacket (no tag): approximately 16-1/2" between armpits, 14-3/4" between shoulders, 25-1/4" from center bottom of collar to hem (in back), 23-1/2" from shoulder seam to sleeve; skirt (no tag): 24” waist and 27" length: cap (no tag): head opening about 8" by 7".
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Jacket: wool with silk lining, wool patch embroidered in silk/cotton, blackened brass collar insignia, resin buttons; skirt: wool; cap: wool, silk lining, enameled gilt brass insignia.
ATTACHMENT:
Jacket: buttons up front and on pockets, double clutch-backs on collar insignia; skirt: button and zipper closure.
MARKINGS:
Jacket: ANNE MCKEE JACK name label sewn inside collar; A&F CO. Abercrombie & Fitch Co. NEW YORK; skirt: ANNE MCKEE JACK name label sewn inside waist; cap: ANNE MCKEE JACK name label.

CONDITION:
7 (Very Fine): The uniform overall is in very fine condition. There is a hole through the wool in the brim of the cap; some tears to the lining of the jacket and one button is safety-pinned on; skirt shows some areas of light wear.
