

ARTIFACT:
This is a fleam from the Revolutionary War era. It has three posts with puncture points and one straight edge, and is possibly of American manufacture. The fleam was a tool used by surgeons for bloodletting: this design may possibly have been used on animals.
VINTAGE:
Circa Revolutionary War.
SIZE:
Approximately 3-5/8” in length and 1” in height and 5/16” in width (folded).
CONSTRUCTION/MATERIALS:
Brass, iron.
ATTACHMENT:
Rivet.
