SUBJECT:
This is a fifth class badge for the Japanese Order of the Rising Sun. The badge is a beautiful sunburst with a red glass center hanging from a cluster of leaves and purple flowers. The reverse of the badge has some Japanese script written on the leaves. The Order was established in 1875 and is second only in prestige to the Order of the Chrysanthemum.

Silver with multi-colored enamel and a red glass accent.
