ARTIFACT: This is a beautiful World War I United States War Savings Stamps (WSS) sales award pin from the Metropolitan Life Insurance (MLI) Company in 14 karat gold (pin itself is in 10 karat gold). MetLife, as the company is now known, was established in 1868 in New York City. The oval head of the pin has an enameled border and shows a hand holding up a torch at center.

VINTAGE: Circa World War I.

SIZE: Approximately 2-1/2" in height and 7/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: 14 karat gold with enamel; 10 karat gold pin.

ATTACHMENT: Straight pin with separate plunger style catch.

MARKINGS: 10K mark on pin portion; R S inside individual circles, 14K on reverse of oval.

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The pin has little wear.
