ARTIFACT:
Beautiful and heavy 14K gold New York State Fire Fighters Valor Medal by Dieges and Clust that was awarded in 1969 to Fireman James F. Jerge of Ladder Co. 6. The center shows the initials "H&M" and surrounding it reads: "NEW YORK STATE HOTEL & MOTEL ASSOCIATION, INC.", "THE FRANK W. KRIDEL MEDAL", "NEW YORK STATE FIRE FIGHTERS ASS'N" in nice, high relief lettering. The outer edge is embellished with wreath details and the top features a bar that reads: "FOR VALOR". The reverse is bright and shows the engraving: "FIREMAN JAMES F. JERGE LADDER CO 6 1969". The planchet is suspended from a red silk ribbon; the planchet alone weighs 40.4 dwt or 2.02 troy ounces.

Circa 1969.

Approximately 4-3/4" x 1-3/4" total; Ribbon: 2-1/8" x 1-5/8"; Planchet: 2-1/8" x 1-3/4".
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
14K gold (40.4 dwt or 2.02 troy ounces), silk ribbon, brass pinback.

7+ (Very Fine+): The medal shows minor to moderate surface wear, the ribbon has faded with time and perhaps shows light ink pen marks, the gold remains bright with light, beautiful patina, overall very fine condition.
