ARTIFACT: This is an early (circa 1950) Soviet AK-47 bayonet in a rare Russian manufacture. The now famous assault rifle (aka Avtomat Kalashnikova, or simply "Kalash") went into circulation only the year before this bayonet was manufactured. The serial number (3853) is on the handle and the blade, which is fullered on both sides, has only some minor wear. The bayonet comes with its original scabbard.

VINTAGE: Circa 1950.

SIZE: Bayonet: approximately 12-1/4" in length and 2" in width (at widest point); blade only: 7-7/8" in length by 7/8" in width (at widest point); scabbard only: 11-1/4" by 1-3/16" (at widest point).

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Steel, wood, plated brass, canvas, leather.

ATTACHMENT: Ring, strap (slot on strap is broken).

MARKINGS: 3853 serial number on handle.
