ARTIFACT:
This is a circa 1880s or 1890s Knights Templar sword in excellent condition named to C. B. Pollock. Pollock's name is engraved upon the blade, along with intricate designs and a scene from the Holy Land. The sword has a scrimshawed ivory handle topped with the head of a knight and the blade has a gilt wash. The sword comes with its gilt and enameled scabbard, which is decorated with enamel details. Encircling a crown and cross are the words BE THOU FAITHFUL UNTIL DEATH AND I WILL GIVE THEE A CROWN OF LIFE. A Knights Templar (KT) cipher is shows further down on the scabbard. Styled upon the ancient group of warrior-gentlemen who protected Christian travelers to the holy Land, the Knights Templar is a modern-day fraternal society under the umbrella of Masonry. The sword was made by Armstrong Manufacturing Company of Chicago, Illinois and is in excellent condition.

Circa 1880s - 1890s.
SIZE:
Approximately 35" in length and 5" in width; blade only: approximately 28" in length and 7/8" in width; scabbard: approximately 29-1/2" in length and 1-3/4" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Steel (blade has a gilt wash) with scrimshawed ivory, gilt and enameled brass scabbard.
ATTACHMENT:
Suspension rings on scabbard.

CONDITION:
8 (Excellent-): The sword is in excellent condition, with a very bright blade. There are only a few very small spots of wear and a some enamel missing from the scabbard.
