Fresh out of a Philly home, this is a large, beautiful and old hand-engraved silver shooting medal from the Germantown Gun Club (GGC) of Pennsylvania (Germantown is a Philadelphia neighborhood). The medal is very thin and lightweight, and was presented to the “Best Shot” on November 11, 1871 by J. M. Flockton. There is a delicately engraved hunting horn at the center of the medal and the scrolled bar from which the medal hangs is inscribed GGC.
Approximately 2-1/8” in height and 1-1/2” in width.
Bar, suspension loop, horizontal T-style pin with C catch.
This is from a gun-related collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. CON-TK-VFJJX11 LAAJJX10/11
7- (Very Fine-): The medal shows some areas of light to medium wear and has a moderate overall tarnish.
As with all my items, this piece is guaranteed original.
