ARTIFACT:
This is a rare pair of British Cavalry Officer's Spurs from the Napoleonic period. The spur portion resembles the prow of a Viking ship with a bird-like head at each end holding the rowels. The studs on either side of the open end of the spur have classic British Lion's heads on them. The outer stud on each spur has a large ornate buckle. There are 9 point rowels on each spur, but one of the points is broken off on the left spur. The spurs appear to have been made by casting the individual pieces, and then hand fitting them together. There are lovely signs of hand finishing to the various pieces of the spurs.

Circa 1800-1815.
SIZE:
Approximately 5-1/4" in length and 4-1/4" in width and 4-1/2" in height (each spur).

CONDITION:
7+ (Very Fine+): Overall the spurs are in very good condition, with small areas of light to medium wear and a handsome tarnish. The spurs are slightly loose where the rowel section attaches to the heel section. One of the points is missing on the rowel of the left spur. One point on revel of right spur is bent hindering full rotation, this could probably be straightened.
