ARTIFACT: Rare 1909 New York Times Abraham Lincoln Essay Silver Medal by Tiffany & Co. This example was presented to Annette Moran and was one of only 1,000 awarded. The round medal shows a bust of Lincoln in lovely relief detail and surrounding the outer edge it reads: "WITH MALICE TOWARDS NONE, WITH CHARITY FOR ALL" and shows "FEB. 12, 1809 1909", Lincoln's birthdate is 2/12/1809 and this medal marked the 100th anniversary of his birth. The reverse reads: "AWARDED BY THE NEW YORK TIMES TO ANNETTE B. MORAN FOR MERIT IN ESSAY ON ABRAHAM LINCOLN 1909". The essay contest was for submissions on Lincoln's legacy and the contest was announced on January 27, 1909 in the New York Times
