Lovely, late 19th century ivory stag carving from Konigssee, Bavaria. The exquisitely detailed stag stands on a patch of grass and cobble stone, atop a rocky promontory that reads: “KONIGSSE” along the base in carved and painted detail. The underside features the date: “1898”.
Circa late 19th century
Approximately 3-3/16” x 1-3/16”
Carved ivory, paint
“1898” on bottom (hard to read)
This is from an antique collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MEX15 LBCEX3/16 SBJJX6/16
8- (Very Fine—Excellent): The stag shows minor to moderate wear and soiling, small cracks in promontory that do not detract, nearly all the painted details remain intact, overall very fine condition.
As with all my items, this piece is guaranteed original.
