

SUBJECT:
This is two pair of silver spectacles made in the United States dating to circa 1825. Both pairs are fashioned from silver with collapsible arms, and one pair comes with a two piece period case. Each pair has double lenses, one with oval lenses, and the other with a similarly shaped lens that is abruptly cut off straight on one end. The slightly larger of the two pair has a makers mark for Bolles & Day from Hartford, Connecticut, a silversmith that operated for a limited period around 1825.

Circa 1825.
SIZE:
Larger pair: approximately 1-1/8 in height and 4-9/16 in width; smaller pair: approximately 1-1/16 in height and 4-1/4 in width; case: approximately 5 in length and 1-7/16 in width and 5/8 in thickness.

Silver, glass, leather.

CONDITION:
7- (overall Very Fine-): The spectacles are both in very fine condition and hardly any wear to the lenses and moderate tarnish. The case is very worn but is still functional.
