ARTIFACT: Wonderful late 19th century Nepalese Gurkha Kukri (Khukuri) knife with a wood carved wooden grip. The scabbard is wood and leather with accompanying chamak and karda. The scabbard also features a pouch for carrying tinder or flint. The Gurkha Kukri is commonly used as a utility knife, but historically has also been used as a weapon and used in ceremony. The blade features a cut-out just below the grip and is said to resemble Shiva, a cow's foot to remind not to use the Gurkha Kukri to kill a cow, sacred to Hindu culture.

VINTAGE: Circa late 19th century

SIZE: Approximately 17" in total length; Grip: 4" x 1-2/8"; Pommel: 2-1/8" x 1"; Blade: 12" x 2-1/4"; Scabbard: 12-1/4" x 3"; 11-2/8" x 1-3/4"; Chamak and Karda: 5" x 3/4"

CONDITION: 6+ (Fine - Very Fine): The blade and sheath show moderate to heavy wear and oxidation, the top of the scabbard shows slight separation and the leather shows pest deterioration, the pommel is chipped, overall fine condition.
