ARTIFACT: Early circa 1943 Boeing B-29 Super Fortress lapel pin in gilt and enameled sterling silver. The example is dated early 1943 as indicated by the aircraft marking. Earlier markings included a red circle within the star, this example shows the red circle removed and the emblem is a blue circle with a white star, soon after the emblem was updated once again by adding a white bar on each side of the circle star. Note on this example, the aircraft markings show no bars, simply the blue circle with white star.

VINTAGE: Circa early 1943.

SIZE: Approximately 1-1/1" in width x 3/4" in height .

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Enameled, gilt-sterling.

ATTACHMENT: Diagonal pin with drop in locking catch.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: The pin that you received will be the one pictured here or one in similar condition. This is from a USAAF collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. 2@VAJX15 LAAEX10/15 S(1)VAJEX08/20

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The lapel shows moderate to heavy wear, much of the enameled and gilt details remain intact.
