ARTIFACT:
This is a circa 1910's pin for Levi & Strauss' "Koveralls" dungarees for kids. A Bavarian emigre to America, Levi-Strauss invented jeans by asking a tailor to sew a rugged pair of pants out of canvas. Denim was the next material to be used, a serge imported from Nimes, France (de+nimes: "denim"). Koveralls debuted in 1912 and became the first Levi-Strauss product to be sold across the United States. The pin shows two horses walking away from each other with a pair of dungarees between them, and reads KOVERALLS LOOK FOR THE LABEL. The pin is by Bastian Brothers (Levi-Strauss history credit: FundingUniverse.com).

Approximately 13/16" in diameter.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Celluloid-wrapped tin, paper backing.
ATTACHMENT:
Straight pin.

8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The badge shows only light wear and aging. Dot near pants looks to be a printing mark and not foxing.
