ARTIFACT: This is a circa 1960's US Air Force(USAF) 531st Bomb Squad patch featuring Walk Disney's cartoon character, Donald Duck, holding up a lit bomb. This patch is just like the World War II design. During the war, many cartoons of the time would create works of propaganda. From Hannah Barbara and their Bugs Bunny going overseas to Japan to be hunted down by a Japanese soldier, to even Dr. Seuss putting an adult spin on his art that typically catered to children. Among this propaganda, Disney created their own propaganda using a string of cartoons, two of which involved Donald Duck. Along with cartoons, Disney also created over 1200 different insignia designs for the war, one of which was the predecessor to this patch.
