ARTIFACT: This is a jacket patch for the 1980-1981 world cruise of the United States Navy USS Philadelphia (SSN-690), a nuclear attack submarine. The Philadelphia was launched from Groton, Connecticut on October 19, 1974, serving for exactly 33 years. The patch shows an eagle flying over the globe and has a red rope border.

VINTAGE: Circa 1980-1981.

SIZE: Approximately 5-1/8" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Fully embroidered in cotton/silk/polyester threads.

ATTACHMENT: None.

MARKINGS: None.
