ARTIFACT: This is a beautiful and RARE early World War II (circa 1941) US M1 helmet from one of the earliest production lotbatch 50B! The helmet has fixed bales (first type rectangular retaining washers on the liner webbing), used before the later swivel bales, and stitched canvas straps. It has also has the first type Hawley liner that slips into the tall olive drab steel shell. The liner is in compressed cardboard covered in khaki cloth on the outside. The helmet is in excellent condition (see "Condition" notes below).

VINTAGE: Circa early World War II (1941).

SIZE: Approximately 6-1/2" in height; head opening: 8" by 9-3/4".

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Steel, canvas, plated brass; compressed cardboard covered in cloth, aluminum washers.

ATTACHMENT: Chin strap with buckle on helmet.

MARKINGS: 50B (batch number).

ITEM NOTES: This is from an early WWII US Army uniform and headgear collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VEJJM13 LABJJX4/14 TRGJJX8/14

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The helmet has minor rim chips and one small crease in the edge of the liner; liner is missing the snap-in leather sweatband and the leather chinstrap.
