ARTIFACT: Extremely rare mid-1940's United States Department of the Interior Office of Indian Affairs Special Officer Photo Credentials originally issued to Paul A. on January 17th, 1945. This position was tasked with "enforcing any law or regulation for the maintenance of law and order on Indian reservations, and for the suppression of the traffic in intoxicants and narcotics among the Indians." The credentials read: "UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR OFFICE OF INDIAN AFFAIRS WASHINGTON" and display Officer Shaver's commission date of "January 17th, 1945" and numbered "41" in the bottom left corner. The credentials also feature Officer Shaver's signature and photo and the exterior front reads: "UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR OFFICE OF INDIAN AFFAIRS" and displays the department's emblem of a buffalo with sun and mountain tops in the background. The photo credentials came with Officer Shaver's Indian Service, Deputy Special Officer Badge, which is being sold separately, there is a link to the listing below.

SIZE: Approximately Closed: 3 3/16 x 4 7/8"; Open: 6 _" x 4 7/8"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Treated cotton over cardstock, gold printed lettering, photo, ink.
