ARTIFACT: This is a beautiful Model 1960 Netherlands Air Force officer pilot dagger. The dagger blade bears the squirrel mark for German maker Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. It comes in its original gilt brass and leather scabbard with simple bands at the rings. The grip is celluloid with brass wire wrapping and the pommel is an openwork crown. The guard is a bird in flight.

VINTAGE: Circa 1960s.

SIZE: Approximately 15" in length and 3-3/8" in width (at guard); blade only: 9-5/8" in length (including ricasso) and 3/4" in width; scabbard only: approximately 10-7/8" in length and 1-1/16" in width; about 16-1/8" total length (while in scabbard).

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Steel blade, brass wire-wrapped celluloid grip, gilt brass, felt; gilt brass and leather scabbard.

ATTACHMENT: Rings on scabbard, release button, brads holding brass to leather on scabbard.

MARKINGS: CARL EICKHORN SOLINGEN with squirrel maker mark.

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The dagger has a very bright blade with only some light wear; some light wear and a small ding to the scabbard.
