ARTIFACT: This is a United States Marine Corps unit history entitled: "Follow Me! The Story of the 2nd Marine Division in World War II", by Richard W. Johnston. Anchored in the Pacific Theatre of Operations, the 2nd engaged in significant battles such as Guadlacanal right through Okinawa. Several photographs illustrate the activities of the 2nd, and a few are very graphic aftermath shots. The book has its original dust jacket (partial), although it is torn and one flap has torn away from the main part. A 2-1/2" x 4-1/4" period photograph of a Marine in uniform came with the book: it is perhaps an image the book's original owner (last image, above). The book was published by Random House of Canada in 1948. The title page has a small sticker from a bookstore in Boston, Massachusetts.

VINTAGE: Circa post-World War II (1948).

SIZE: 305 pages with black and white photographs and black and white and color illustrations; approximately 11-1/4" in height and 8-7/8" in width and 15/16" in thickness.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Glossy paper dust jacket; cloth-bound embossed cover, glossy paper; photograph.

ATTACHMENT: Glued binding.

MARKINGS: Published in Canada by Random House of Canada, Ltd., 1948.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Marine Corps collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VDGX03 LABEX4/13 SABEX5/13

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The book has little wear and is in excellent shape. Original dust jacket 4- (good&emdash;very good) is in rough condition: it has several tears and some tape and one flap has torn away from the main part (it is still present).

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
