ARTIFACT: This is a beautiful old circa 1900 lapel badge for the Yonkers Volunteer Fire Department, Harry Howard Hose Co. No. 12. A populous and old New York city situated on the Hudson River, Yonkers had organized firefighting as early as 1852. The H.H. Hose Company was formed in the summer heat of 1900. Seven years later, all but six of Yonkers' volunteer hose companies were forced to disband, H.H. Hose Co. No. 12 being one of the lucky ones. The badge is in 10 karat gold was made by C.G. Braxmar Company of New York. It has a great hose cart at center and enameled lettering. The original owner's name was engraved upon the reverse: it has been mostly eradicated, but could be deciphered with a Fire Department member list. This came to us along with a circa 1910s Yonkers Exempt Firemen's Association badge (please see link at bottom of page for information).

VINTAGE: Circa 1900.

SIZE: Approximately 1" in height and 7/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: 10 karat gold, enamel.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical T-style pin with C catch.

MARKINGS: Original owner's name (hard to read but could be deciphered with a member list) C.G. Braxmar Co. N.Y. on reverse.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an old New York fire badge collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. ebay MEJX14 LEGEX6/14 SCDEX2/15

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The badge has some minor wear, mostly to the reverse.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
