ARTIFACT:
This is a circa late 19th century Indonesian keris, or kris, with an ornate scabbard and a beautiful blade. A keris is a dagger native to Indonesia as well as a handful of neighboring countries, with an asymmetrical blade. This particular keris has the distinctive "wavy" blade design with lots of texture. The keris has a beautiful wooden hilt (hulu). The scabbard is delicate and has remnants of its original velvet and gilt brass adornments.
VINTAGE:
Circa late 19th century.
SIZE:
Approximately 21" in length (in scabbard); keris only: approximately 18-1/4" in length and 3-1/8" in width; blade only: approximately 14-1/4" in length and 3-1/8" in width; scabbard only: approximately 20" in length and 6-3/4" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Steel, wood, velvet, gilt brass.

8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The keris shows little wear. 7- (Very Fine-) Scabbard is delicate and has areas of moderate wear and some nicks to the wooden portion.
