ARTIFACT:
This is a beautiful circa 1968 United States Navy ship Zippo lighter for the USS Tripoli LPH-10 with a factory-engraved presentation from the Commanding Officer, Captain D. B. Shelton. Launched July 31, 1965, the Tripoli was an amphibious assault ship that was on its 2nd Combat Tour in Vietnam at this time. The Tripoli had a total of 3 Combat Tours in Vietnam, and went on to serve in the Arabian Sea from 1990 to 1995. She was decommissioned in 1995.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1968.
SIZE:
Approximately 2-1/4" height and 1-1/2" width and 1/2" in thickness.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Chrome-plated brass, painted details.
ATTACHMENT:
Hinge.
MARKINGS:
III ZIPPO ¨ III BRADFORD PA on bottom.
