ARTIFACT:
Small paper lot of WWI 151st Field Artillery Brigade Soldier L. Roy Mann, father of Eliot T. Mann, Tech Sergeant 319th Depot Repair Squadron, USAAF, 15th AF. The lot contains a handful of candid period photos, wartime postcards, and other paper items. The center piece of this lot is the Belmont, Massachusetts WWI Celebration of Veterans Program, which contains photos and lists of those men from the city of Belmont who served in the Great War, medals received, and those sadly KIA. An excellent referenced with poignant personal information and history. The front of the program reads: "BELMONT CELEBRATION IN HONOR OF THE CITIZENS OF BELMONT WHO SERVED THEIR COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1917-1919" and a city seal is featured in the center, the base of the program cover is dated: "JULY 4, 1919". Also included is a piece of "SOLDIER'S MAIL" addressed to "MRS. L. R. MANN" and there are three postal stamps visible and a stamp that reads: "PASSED BY THE CHIEF MILITARY CENSOR WASHINGTON". The reverse reads: "THE SHIP WHICH I SAILED HAS ARRIVED SAFELY OVERSEAS" and displays Mann's name and unit. A theater pass is included in the grouping along with four postcards 3 addressed to "Dear Wife" and one, "Hay - Josie". Last, there are three pages of what seems to be family and personal candid photographs from a scrapbook.
