ARTIFACT: This is a very rare and early, circa 1900, Santa Barbara County, California Deputy Sheriff badge. The badge is shield-shaped and has remnants of gold wash upon nickel. It was made by Los Angeles Rubber Stamps company and has an early maker mark on reverse. The lightweight badge has very finely engraved bordering with an eagle at the top. The center bears the small stamped words SANTA BARBARA CO.

VINTAGE: Circa 1900.

SIZE: Approximately 1-7/8" in height and 1-1/2" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Nickel with remnants of gold wash.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical safety-style pin with saddle.

MARKINGS: L.A. RUB. STP. CO. (very early LA Rubber Stamp Co. maker mark).

ITEM NOTES: This is from an old western and lawman badge collection that we will be listing more of over the next few months. VEJJX14 LABGEX2/14 SAAEJX03/20

CONDITION: 6 (Fine+): The badge has had its share of wear, but there are remnants of gold wash still on the nickel.
