Rare, Late 1930's French Army of the Air Squadron Badge of GRII/33 (2nd Recon Grp. 33rd Sq.)

ARTIFACT: Rare, late 1930's French Army of the Air squadron badge of GRII/33 (2nd Recon Group, 33rd sq.) Later Free-French, the badge is light blue enamel featuring a flying stork and above it, an axe in red enamel, designed by A. Augis in Lyon.
Taking the name "Savoy" November 3, 1943, he team at the end of that year Hawker Hurricane and in March 1944, Vickers-Supermarine Spitfire Mark V. After participating in the campaign of Tunisia, squadron arrived in Italy in May 1944 to fight alongside the 11th TAC / R American Squadron before reaching France where his flying level arises August 20, 1944, in Ramatuelle. His brilliant actions earned him two Mentions in the Army Air with attribution of war cross with palm. On 23 September, it is located in Dijon where it is converted to Spitfire Mark IX.
