ARTIFACT: Wonderful circa 1943 Luftwaffe Pilot Chronograph by Tutima - Glasshutte - Germany with original brown leather band. During WWII over 3.4 million Germans served in the Luftwaffe and suffered many casualties, missing soldiers, and wounded men. The mechanical Tutima Glasshutte chronograph was issued to German Army Luftwaffe Pilots during this time of war. The reverse of the watch case displays the number "215470". Tutima began making these chronographs in 1941, they feature a black dial that reads: "GLASHUTTE", with Arabic numerals, a 30-minute counter and 'poire squelette' (skeleton pear) hands with florescent 'glow-in-the-dark' coating. Due to the construction of the watch case in nickel-plated brass, today they are almost all in worn condition with areas of brass showing through. However, despite the aforementioned conditioning, these watches are rare and very valuable.
