ARTIFACT: Beautiful WWII Imperial German Army Air Services Flight Helmet in canvas wrapped cork with a leather chin strap and painted steel buckle. This example is unit marked to Flieger Battalion 1 and dated 1916. The inside of the helmet features leather and the inked markings: "FL. B. 1.", "1916".

VINTAGE: Circa WWI

SIZE: Approximately Ear to ear: 7"; Front to back: 9-1/2" (including brim); Ear Flap: 6-1/4" x 4-1/2"; Neck Flap: 9-1/2" x 4"; 7" in height without flaps

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Canvas wrapped cork, leather, painted steel, ink

ATTACHMENT: Leather chin strap, painted steel buckle

MARKINGS: "FL. B. 1.", "1916"

ITEM NOTES: This is from an Imperial German collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. CON-RLB-16 RLB-VABJJX10/05 LBGEJX3/16 SBGGJX6/16

CONDITION: 8+ (Excellent): The helmet shows minor to moderate wear, chin strap is stiffening, the steel buckle shows slight oxidation, much of the painted details remain, overall excellent condition.
