ARTIFACT: This is a great hand-colored satire of Napoleon from around the time of the 1810 British Blockade of French-controlled ports. It appears that the piece was framed in the 1920s or 1930s. Napoleon, trying to use concentrated sunlight against the British Fleet, is quoted above: "Fire and gunpowder: They told me a good burning glafs would do the businefs in an instant but it has no more effect than if I threw snowballs at them."

VINTAGE: Circa 1810.

SIZE: Approximately 14" in height by 10" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Paper, glass, wood.

ATTACHMENT: Two eye hooks with wire.

MARKINGS: ROBERTS (other words are hard to make out).

ITEM NOTES: This is from a Great Britain collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. ebay VEJX12 LBDEX2/12 SeBDEX1/15

CONDITION: 7+ (Very Fine+): The item has been well-preserved, with some very small spots of wear to the frame and some very small specks under the glass along the right-hand edge.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
