ARTIFACT: This circa 1890s - early 1900s hanging sign is a piece in high British Arts & Crafts styling by renowned British artist A. W. Kiddie. It most likely depicts a famous home in the United Kingdom, probably commissioned by the owner. It is all hand-hammered in repouss??, lending it two dimensions, and has lovely patination! Born in 1844 as a Scot destined to be a world traveler, Kiddie sailed for three years and then stumbled into engineering, both experiences that fueled his emerging passion for designing yachts and building ship models. Kiddie worked in different media as an artist, including ivory, wood and metal, and has had works housed in such venues as the South Kensington Museum, the Liverpool Museum and the British Museum.

VINTAGE: Circa 1890s-early 1900s.

SIZE: Approximately 21-1/4" in height (including hook) and 17-1/4" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Copper.

ATTACHMENT: Two squared hooks secured by rivets.

MARKINGS: A.W. KIDDIE.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an Arts and Crafts collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. ebay VGEX12 LABJJX6/12 SLHGEX7/16

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The sign has some light wear and a lovely patination.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
