ARTIFACT:
This is a rare, modified flight cap from the United States Army Air Forces. Because of the six triangular "humps" drawn under the visor, the cap may have belonged to a pilot who flew over the Himalayas repeatedly. The cap was fitted to accommodate a gas mask and has an insignia wrong side-up through the visor so it and the humps could both be seen while on the pilot's head.

Circa World War II.

Size 7.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Cotton, plated brass.
ATTACHMENT:
Single screw post with disc backing on insignia.
MARKINGS:
7 and a stamp reading RH 4(arrow)44 MC and 25 and six drawn "humps".; "RAU FASTENER CO." on air mask clips
