ARTIFACT: This is a very nice World War I United States Air Service pilot uniform with a stunning "Dallas" Wing. This is the Dallas wing manufactured by Bailey, Banks, & Biddle, and it is in a state of exceptional condition. There is 75% plus of the original frosting in place, and the wing actually looks even more impressive in-hand than in the pictures here. The moths nipped a bit at the wool backing (see pics), but the wing presents exceptionally from the front. In addition to the beautiful wing the jacket sports lovely bullion rank insignia, a German-made 3rd Army patch in silk & bullion on wool, beautiful US Air Service collar insignia, and a single gold bullion overseas stripe. The jacket has maker label inside of The House of Kuppenheimer, and the local seller/outfitter label from Washer Bros. Ft. Worth (Texas). The original matching pants are in great overall condition. Sadly, there is no history that comes along with this jacket, as it is not named. But it did at one time belong to a pilot who made his way overseas during the First World War.

VINTAGE: Circa World War I.

SIZE: Approximate Size small (no tag). Jacket: approximately 18" from armpit to armpit; 25-1/2" length from collar to hem (on reverse); 22" from shoulder seam to cuff; 15-1/2" between shoulders. Pants: 15" waist (lying flat), 24-1/2" inseam.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Wool, twill lining, resin buttons, brass, wool embroidered with bullion, wool with silver (wing).

ATTACHMENT: Buttons, hook and eye at collar; buttons, buckles on pants; pinback on wing.

MARKINGS: Washer Bros. Fort Worth; The House of Kuppenheimer and hard-to-read stamp inside jacket lining.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a WWI United States Air Service pilot uniform collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. CON-LL-20-MBJJJX14 LBGEJX9/14 SBEJJX7/16

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The jacket unfortunately has some mothing on the edge/back, some stitching has come undone at the armpit. There is some discoloration inside the liner at the armpits and a small purple mark on left sleeve. Pants are in very good condition with minor mothing near the bottom of the legs. Wing has some wear/tarnish.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
