ARTIFACT: This is a great World War II United States 9th Air Force grouping which belonged to Staff Sergeant John W. Eckman of the 587th Bomber Squad, 394th Bomber Group D-Day Unit which flew B-26 & A-26 aircraft. The grouping contains a jacket patch, a shoulder patch, a dog tag, two small photographs and various papers. The jacket patch depicts a flying skull sporting a baseball cap and smoking a cigar with two crossed torpedoes and the fully-embroidered shoulder patch reads UNITED STATES AIR CORPS encircling a star.

VINTAGE: Circa WWII.

SIZE: Various sizes: patches are 3-3/8" and 5-1/2" in diameter.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Items are made of expected materials: jacket patch made of dirigible skin; fully embroidered patch made with silk or cotton thread; dog tag made of pot metal.
