ARTIFACT:
This is a great piece of World War II history: a circa early World War II jacket patch for the United States Army Air Forces 324th Bomb Squadron, 91st Bomb Group, 8th Air Force. This squadron is from the famed "Memphis Belle", which in May 1943 became the first USAAF heavy bomber craft to complete 25 European missions and then return home safely. The patch is hand-painted on leather and shows a cartoon rabbit character eating a carrot and casually holding a bomb at its center. This patch was removed from a jacket and has also spent some time in a scrapbook. There are remnants of a handwritten name on reverse.

Circa early World War II.
SIZE:
Approximately 5" in diameter.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Hand-painted on leather.
ATTACHMENT:
To be sewn onto Flight Clothing.
MARKINGS:
Very faint remains of a name written on the reverse.
ITEM NOTES:

CONDITION:
7+ (Very Fine+): The patch is very supple and has only some minor wear/fading; scrapbook residue on reverse only.
