ARTIFACT: This is a rare circa 1930s United States Air Service 107th Observation Squadron distinctive insignia. First formed during World War I, the 107th was reassigned as the first flying unit of the Michigan National Guard in 1925. This DI is listed as "uncommon" in Jay Massaro's book on USAAF DIs, but it is more likely "rare". It shows a winged devil with a pitchfork and reads VIDERE EST SCIRE (To see is to know).

VINTAGE: Circa 1930s.

SIZE: Approximately 1"e; in height and 15/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Enameled gilt brass.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical pin with drop-in locking swivel catch.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a 1930s United States Air Service collar insignia collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MHJX14 LBDEX4/14

CONDITION: 8 (Excellent-): The insignia has only very light wear.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
