ARTIFACT: This is a first edition copy of "The Long Campaign: The History of the 15th Fighter Group in World War II" by John W. Lambert. This copy was owned by the group's Material Officer, Major Emerson R. Johnson. Johnson commanded the 15th's assault force, and is mentioned on page 77 (first interior photo above). The 15th was present at Pearl Harbor, as it was a part of the Hawaiian defense force until being sent to serve in the South Pacific in 1944. The book has several black and white photographs, some of nose art, and five maps, two of which fold out (the one pictured above is of Tokyo Bay). The book was published in 1982 by Sunflower University Press of Manhattan, Kansas.

VINTAGE: Published 1982.

SIZE: 186 pages; approximately 11-1/4"e; in height and 8-5/8" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Board cover, paper.

ATTACHMENT: Glued binding.

MARKINGS: Copyright, 1982, by John W. Lambert; small name/address label of Emerson Johnson stuck inside front cover.

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The book has some wear to the edges of the cover/spine but is otherwise in excellent condition.
