ARTIFACT: This is a possibly one-of-a-kind unit history of the United States Air Force 509th Armament & Electronics Maintenance Squadron covering June 16-30, 1952. The unit history has several tipped-in photos with brief captions. The booklet comes with a several newspaper and magazine clippings, some from the period and some from 1944- 1953. There are also two 1965 articles from the "Viking", a Portsmouth, New Hampshire newspaper on the subject of the unveiling of a 509th memorial statue at Pease AFB. The presenter was Brig. Gen Charles W. Sweeney, the pilot of the plane that dropped the bomb on Nagasaki. Included are two photographs, most likely from the original owner's service abroad in World War II.

VINTAGE: Published circa June 1952 (Korean War).

SIZE: 21 pages, approximately 11-3/4"e; in height and 9" in width; photographs and newspaper clippings are various sizes.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Oaktag folder cover, typewriter paper, photographs, newsprint.

ATTACHMENT: Metal clip binding.

MARKINGS: Robert S. Overstreet (CO) signature; Mont St. Michel and a blurb written on the reverse of one photo.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Air Force unit history collection that we will be listing more of over the next few months. MBEX13 LAGEX9/13

CONDITION: 7 (Very Fine): The history has some light wear and fading and some of the photographs are loose but still present; overall yellowing of articles.
